What the big boys spend on wireless analysis

I finally got around to reading a pile of magazines and newspapers that was taking up valuable real estate on my studio floor :-) I almost tossed the stack into the trash, thankfully I didn't.

An article in network computing december 8, 2005 titled "analyze this wlan" gives a fairly good rundown on the proprietary side of the wireless network analysis tools out there. (they do mention the free ware, opensource alternatives for win and linux).
a summary of the results I put over here.

206 Neg9 meeting was my first experience of how important it is to network outside of VR, yes-ive been to the gslug meetings but never had this kind of community feeling. So if your in to computers, network security, or *nix, I highly recomend this group. Find out more at Neg9 or reach out to EFnet on irc and plug into #neg9.

This is a link to my post on the coolest laptop ever...

In Dec 8 issue of network computing they had an article concerning mesh networks. All of there must read links where broken however so I didn't invest more time researching this, however it appears hat the trend is moving toward wireless AP. now thats going to be cool. In other words, the way I understood the article was that your access point wouldn't necessarily be plugged into the wired ether but repeat wirelessly to a persavive mesh network, or there would be an elimination of the AP. So hacking cisco becomes even more relevant for pen testers. See arhonts new book in my links sidebar.

Lastly, this is where I got my Yagi kit, and it is a 12dbi
with a intersil prism 2.5 longrange card. Yes it supports monitor mode, and kismet F****ing rocks.
I misquoted the price at neg9, it is 119semolians
check out Whoppix here.
